Fuel seizures in Mexico
Overview
Authorities in Mexico have conducted separate operations to intercept illegal gasoline shipments.
In Chihuahua, State Police and the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) discovered an abandoned 1990 International tanker truck on a dirt road in Las Moras. The vehicle contained approximately 9,600 liters of regular gasoline, valued at roughly 230,794 pesos. The fuel was transferred to Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) for safekeeping.
In Hidalgo, a mechanical failure involving a support jack caused a tanker to tilt and crack on Boulevard Juárez in Zempoala, leading to a fuel spill. During the investigation, the Hidalgo State Public Security Secretariat (SSPH) determined that the driver’s cargo manifests were fraudulent. Police seized 29,000 liters of gasoline along with a Kenworth tractor-trailer and two semi-trailers. The driver and the seized materials were turned over to the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR).
