Funding for ThessINTEC technology park in Greece

Overview

The Greek Ministry of Development has approved €30,333,282.64 in public funding from the National Development Program for the ThessINTEC technology park. This allocation aims to support the construction of infrastructure, utility networks, and flood protection in the municipality of Thermaki, with the goal of attracting €500 million in investment and creating over 7,000 jobs.

However, opposition members of PASOK–Movement for Change have criticized this funding shift. MP Rania Thrasia reported that the project lost approximately €33 million in European Recovery and Resilience Fund resources due to bureaucratic delays and coordination issues, alleging that the government is now using the National Development Program to cover the deficit at the expense of taxpayers.
