Gabon youth entrepreneurship and digital initiatives
Overview
Gabon has introduced several initiatives aimed at economic development and digital inclusion for its youth. Initially, the Ministry of Commerce, SMEs, and Youth Entrepreneurship partnered with the Société de Garantie du Gabon and Épargne et Développement du Gabon to provide up to 180 million FCFA in financing and training for 400 young entrepreneurs. During this period, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Post (ARCEP) also established a dialogue committee to improve digital service regulation and user rights.
Following these economic measures, the focus expanded to direct resource distribution. In the Ngounié province, the ‘One Young Gabonese, One Computer’ project, launched by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, resulted in the distribution of 200 computers to students and entrepreneurs in Mouila to support digital access and reduce unemployment.
