Galician public transport service disputes

Public transportation services in Galicia are under scrutiny following labor disputes and widespread passenger dissatisfaction. The BNG political group has expressed support for workers at Subus-Lugove, the company managing interurban transport in the Baixo Miño and Val de Miñor regions, who are striking over alleged failures to comply with the Pontevedra passenger transport collective agreement.

BNG representatives have called for immediate intervention by the Xunta de Galicia, arguing the regional government is responsible for the company’s breach of contract and criticizing a transport plan they claim is poorly dimensioned, resulting in overcrowding on routes such as the Baiona to Vigo line.

In addition to the strike, the Valedora do Pobo has requested reports from the Xunta regarding complaints in the O Salnés region. This follows reports of passengers being left behind due to overcapacity on lines connecting O Grove and Pontevedra. The institution is investigating whether the regional government is adequately supervising concession compliance and if service frequencies require urgent revision.
