Galician regional and municipal political developments

The People's Party of Galicia (PPdeG) has established a political agenda centered on regional stability, infrastructure, and financing reform. As the governing party in the Xunta, the PPdeG seeks to address issues such as drought management, healthcare, and education while pushing for greater regional equality against the Spanish central government.

At the local level, political tensions have emerged regarding financial management. In Gondomar, the BNG party has called for accountability concerning municipal debts. In Bueu, the PP has criticized the local government for the potential loss of a 700,000 euro subsidy from the Xunta de Galicia, warning that such losses could lead to service cuts or tax increases.

In Lugo, development efforts are shifting toward urban and rural infrastructure coordination. The Mayor of Lugo, Elena Candia, met with the Regional Minister for Rural Affairs, María José Gómez, to discuss modernizing the historic Campo da Feira de Nadela. This project involves an investment of approximately 413,470 euros to upgrade sanitation, electricity, water services, and accessibility at the fairground.

Concurrently, the PSOE has pressured Mayor Candia to ensure the Xunta de Galicia takes responsibility for the Sagrado Corazón site. The party is advocating for an integral project for the area that would incorporate a health center, a nursery school, and a sociocultural center to support the local neighborhood.
