Galician regional governance and administrative updates

Overview

The regional government of Galicia is undergoing administrative changes regarding its competencies and regulatory procedures.

In late October, the Spanish central government announced a transfer of authority to the Galician regional government. This expansion of self-governance, expected to be formalized by a bilateral commission on November 5, includes management of non-commercial aerodromes and initial work authorizations for foreign nationals. Galician President Alfonso Rueda noted the move is intended to reduce bureaucratic delays.

Concurrently, the Xunta de Galicia has announced the reactivation of procedures for agricultural and forest residue burning. Starting November 2, individuals may submit communications for agricultural burning, which can proceed from November 4 following a required notice period. Requests for forest residue burning require formal administrative authorization, and the regional government has stated that all such activities will be prohibited on days with high temperatures and strong winds.
