Gardaí investigations into fatal incidents in Ireland

Irish authorities, specifically the Gardaí, are investigating several serious and fatal incidents across different regions of the country.

In mid-August, investigations were launched into a fatal assault in Dublin city centre on North Great Charles Street that resulted in the death of a man in his 40s. Concurrently, police responded to a three-vehicle collision in County Meath on the R132, which left a man in his 50s in critical condition.

By early September, the focus shifted to two fatal hit-and-run incidents in the Limerick and Clare areas. In Rathkeale, County Limerick, a two-year-old boy, Peter Mulcaire, was killed after being struck by a jeep while playing on a toy tractor; a man in his 30s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, though he was released after providing samples. The vehicle involved also failed to remain at the scene.

In a separate case near the Clare-Limerick border at Clonlara, 16-year-old Bryan Lowe was killed while riding an e-bike/scrambler. Investigators are seeking the driver or occupants of a silver/gold Skoda Octavia, registration 05-C-5982, seen in the Clonlara and Castleconnell areas. Authorities are examining whether the collision was a deliberate act following a dispute, including potential links to local drug activity.
