Garut Regency regional development initiatives

Overview

The Garut Regency Government has initiated several regional development and infrastructure support measures.

To address the demand for subsidized housing and support national strategic housing goals, the local government implemented a policy exempting Low-Income Communities (MBR) from the Land and Building Title Transfer Duty (BPHTB). Officials have encouraged citizens to use banking facilities like Housing Program Credit (KPP) and the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) to access affordable rates.

In terms of physical infrastructure, the administration announced that Rp41 billion in road repairs for the 6.5-kilometer Banjarwangi–Singajaya section is scheduled to begin in September 2026. This project, part of a larger connectivity effort, will be funded through the Regional Road Presidential Instruction scheme rather than Special Allocation Funds (DAK), prioritizing roads linked to national food and energy self-sufficiency programs.
