German bicycle market recovery and industry trends

Overview

The German bicycle market entered a recovery phase in the first half of 2026. According to the industry association ZIV, domestic production of bicycles and e-bikes rose by 6 percent and 4 percent respectively, while retail sales saw increases of nearly 10 percent and 2 percent. ZIV Managing Director Burkhard Stork noted that the industry has “overcome its lowest point.”

Following this broader market trend, the company BIKE24 raised its 2026 revenue forecast to a range of EUR 345 million to EUR 360 million, citing strong demand and international expansion into Denmark, Slovenia, and Ireland. Despite the revenue increase, the company narrowed its adjusted EBITDA forecast to between EUR 16 million and EUR 18 million, attributing tighter margins to higher internationalization costs, rising transport costs, geopolitical pressures, and a shift toward lower-margin electronic goods.
