Jury spokesperson Cornelia Geißler noted that the shortlist reflects how the uncertainties of the present serve as “fertile ground for great literature.” The winner is scheduled to be revealed on October 5, one day before the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The prize fund totals 37,500 euros, with 25,000 euros awarded to the winner and 2,500 euros to each of the other shortlisted authors.
