German daycare craft competition initiative

Overview

The “Kleine Hände, große Zukunft” (Small Hands, Big Future) craft competition, organized by Aktion Modernes Handwerk e. V. (AMH), encourages daycare centers to collaborate with local craft businesses. Through visits to workshops, bakeries, or construction sites, children participate in hands-on activities to learn about manual trades.

Following these experiences, participants create posters to document their impressions for evaluation by a jury of experts. Winning centers receive 500 euros to fund projects or festivals. The 14th round of the competition introduces a new “Kita-Handwerks-Pass,” a commemorative pass for every participating child. The submission deadline for the current period is March 12, 2027.
