German flea markets and autumn community events

Overview

In late September and early October 2026, various local community events and markets continued across Germany. In Bad Blankenburg, a night flea market hosted 60 professional and hobby dealers, while Gelsenkirchen held a farmers and Dutch market with approximately 115 stalls. Regional activities included an autumn market in the Nuremberg region, a garden market at Schloss Weingartsgreuth, and the FilmFest Hamburg Junior.

As the season progressed into mid-to-late October, the focus shifted toward larger autumn fairs and traditional festivities. In Kassel, the Herbst-Freyheit event is scheduled from October 29 to November 1, 2026, featuring 37 fairground businesses across Königs-, Friedrichs-, and Opernplatz, alongside street art and a flea market.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, significant seasonal attractions include the Allerheiligenkirmes in Soest, described as “Europe’s largest old town fair,” which hosts over 300 exhibitors and attracts approximately one million visitors. Other notable events include the autumn festival at Deutzer Werft in Cologne-Deutz, featuring roughly 80 exhibitors, and the Martinikirmes held at the local harness racing track in Dinslaken.
