German public library art exhibitions

Overview

In late July 2026 German cultural venues continued a series of free public art programmes hosted by libraries and cultural centres. On 29 July, a lecture on the history and modern use of colour in books was held at Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, followed the same day by a workshop on bold colours at Kulturhaus Spandau as part of the long‑running "ExperimenTiergarten" retrospective.

A few days later, the women’s artist collective Farbenkreis opened its "In Bewegung" exhibition at the Göttingen city library, showcasing paintings, drawings, installations and collages that explore movement. Simultaneously, the "Meine Stadt der Zukunft" exhibition debuted at the Gera city library, displaying works created by children and youth that envision future urban landscapes. Both exhibitions remain open to the public through early September, maintaining the emphasis on accessible artistic engagement within German library spaces.
