German RV manufacturers present updates at Caravan Salon
Overview
At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, German recreational vehicle manufacturers Bürstner and Hymer are showcasing strategic product updates.
Bürstner has announced a complete shutdown of its caravan line to focus on motorhomes and camper-vans, a move CEO Hubert Brandl described as a temporary pause until a new caravan concept is presented in two years. The company has reduced its former 15-model range to three new series. Key unveilings include the Signature series, built on a Mercedes-Sprinter chassis and starting at €94,000, and the Habiton 6.1 camper-van. The Habiton 6.1, priced from €78,999, moves to a more traditional configuration with a transverse rear bed and a gas-free kitchen featuring induction cooktops. Additionally, manufacturer SpaceCamper is presenting special edition models for its 20th anniversary, including the ‘Classic+ Dog’, which features a secure sleeping area for large dogs, and the ‘Classic+ Bike’, designed to house two bicycles internally.
Hymer has detailed a complete redesign of its flagship B-Class MasterLine luxury motorhome series, set to debut at the salon between August 28 and September 6, 2026. Built on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis, the lineup includes the integrated I 780 and I 880 models, alongside the semi-integrated T 780. The redesign introduces a sharper exterior with new headlights and a ‘Tarmac Grey’ color option. Interior themes include Rochefort Nuss and Matara Teak. Technical enhancements feature designer kitchens with mineral composite countertops, a 330-watt solar system, lithium batteries with up to 360 Ah capacity, and an insulated 200-liter fresh water tank.
