German weapons law enforcement and judicial rulings

Overview

Legal and law enforcement actions regarding weapons and criminal activity have been reported in Germany.

In Wuppertal, two arms dealers received prison sentences of two and a half to three and a half years for trading in war weapons. This follows the discovery of a weapons cache containing over 300 firearms in Remscheid. Additionally, the Administrative Court of Münster dismissed two police officers for abandoning colleagues during a 2020 shootout in Gevelsberg.

More recently, German Federal Police reported several weapons law violations during border controls near Kiefersfelden and Oberaudorf. Searches of vehicles yielded prohibited items, including a brass knuckle, a blank-firing pistol, and various knives. During these operations, police also apprehended an Austrian driver wanted in Germany for fraud and theft.
