Germany-Kosovo bilateral cooperation
Overview
Germany and Kosovo have expanded their bilateral cooperation through new agreements targeting economic and security sectors.
In July 2026, Kosovo’s Ministry of Labour, Family and War-Liberation Values and Germany’s development agency GIZ signed an agreement for the ‘Economic Empowerment of Women’ (EEW) project. This initiative seeks to improve social and structural conditions for women, particularly in rural areas, by enhancing employment services, professional training, and labour-market access.
Following this, in August 2026, Germany pledged approximately 3 million euros to support the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) via the ‘Enable & Enhance Initiative’. Signed by Kosovo’s Ministry of Defense and the German Defense Attaché, the project is intended to advance the operational capacities of the FSK and continues ongoing security and defense cooperation between the two nations.
