Germany-Turkey bilateral relations development

Germany and Turkey are working to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties through administrative reforms and diplomatic engagement.

In early October 2026, the two nations moved to expand the ‘Business Fast Track’ visa procedure. This initiative, supported by North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, aims to reduce bureaucratic delays for Turkish entrepreneurs, particularly those within the DEİK network. The program is intended to facilitate quicker appointment scheduling and streamline documentation for business travel related to industrial investments and contract negotiations.

By mid-October, the Turkish Embassy in Germany called for further deepening of these relations, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the 1961 German-Turkish recruitment agreement. Diplomatic efforts have focused on increasing bilateral trade volumes and making progress toward visa liberalization. The embassy highlighted the significant contributions of the Turkish diaspora to German society, including advancements in science and culture, as a foundation for continued partnership.
