Ghana Black Stars coaching restructuring
Overview
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed former international midfielder Godwin Attram as the new assistant coach of the Black Stars. This appointment is part of a technical restructuring intended to prepare the senior national team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Attram replaces Desmond Ofei, who will transition to focus exclusively on his role as the head coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s U23 national team. Attram, a former professional for PSV Eindhoven and Silkeborg IF, previously served as the head coach of Great Olympics.
The coaching change follows head coach Carlos Queiroz’s selection of a 21-man squad. Ghana is scheduled to begin its qualifying campaign with an away match against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, followed by a home game against The Gambia in Accra on September 29, 2026, and an international friendly against Morocco in October 2026.
