Overview

In early July 2026, the floods that struck Ghana in late June left at least 34 people dead and displaced more than 89,000 residents. By the end of the month, the Ghana Armed Forces, together with the National Disaster Management Organisation, began distributing relief items and cash to 297 military personnel and civilian staff whose homes were damaged. The assistance, delivered at Burma Camp, included food, bedding, hygiene supplies and an undisclosed cash amount, alongside the establishment of counselling services and calls for improved sanitation and housing redevelopment.
