Ghana infrastructure development initiatives

Overview

The Ghanaian government has launched several infrastructure projects across different regions to improve connectivity and economic activity. In Accra, efforts are focused on road rehabilitation ahead of the nation’s 70th independence anniversary, including the resealing of principal routes such as the Kasoa and Ofankor corridors and the coastal road from Independence Square to Tema. Additionally, work is set to begin on the Accra Convention Centre at the Trade Fair Centre to support international tourism.

In the Ashanti Region, initiatives include the construction of 41 District Model Markets designed to decentralize trade and reduce congestion in the Kumasi Central Business District. Other regional developments involve the construction of 10 kilometers of farm roads in Ejura and a rural electrification programme targeting 27 remote communities.
