Ghana international agricultural and sports partnerships

Overview

Ghana is actively seeking international partnerships to advance its agricultural and sports sectors.

In the agricultural sector, the government is focusing on value addition and domestic processing. This includes a Letter of Intent with Meiji Holdings to promote a circular economy in the cocoa industry, aiming to increase local bean processing to at least 50% by the 2026/27 season. Additionally, Ghanaian officials have met with UK representatives to explore agricultural investment, knowledge exchanges with farmers in Northern Ireland, and improvements in grain production and post-harvest processing.

In the sports sector, Ghana is pursuing collaborations to enhance infrastructure and performance. A partnership with Meiji Holdings has been established with the Ghana Football Association to focus on sports nutrition and player development. Concurrently, discussions with the UK Trade Commissioner have centered on investing in sports infrastructure, technical training, and youth development, with an emphasis on constructing modern stadiums to host major international competitions.
