Ghanaian security officials are navigating challenges regarding international intelligence cooperation and capacity building. Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak warned that the country faces potential cuts to intelligence-sharing partnerships due to allegations of insider collusion with criminal syndicates. The Minister noted that partners in Australia and France have shown reluctance to cooperate following incidents such as the interception of 3.9 tonnes of cocaine shipped from Ghana to France.

In response to security needs, the European Union has engaged in discussions with the Ghana Police Service to strengthen cooperation. EU Ambassador Rune Skinnebach met with Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno to reaffirm support for training, forensic investigations, cybersecurity, and crime scene management. The Inspector-General has requested deeper collaboration in specialized areas, including counter-terrorism, to address emerging security challenges.
