Global AI integration and emerging risk trends

Overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data have emerged as primary global risks, displacing climate change as the top concern for experts in recent assessments. In Mexico, 73 percent of experts and 83 percent of the general population report feeling vulnerable to AI-related risks, with the ‘black box’ effect—the lack of transparency in decision-making—cited as a major concern.

Parallel to these risk assessments, AI integration is significantly altering labor markets. In France, job offers requiring AI skills increased 2.4 times between early 2023 and early 2026, particularly within the IT and data sectors. While adoption of generative AI is widespread among larger French companies, a gap persists between large corporations and SMEs.

Across these developments, a consistent theme of unpreparedness exists. Only 9 percent of global experts believe public authorities are sufficiently prepared to manage emerging AI risks, and only 36 percent of the Mexican general population feels prepared to face large-scale crises.
