Global digital education and AI integration initiatives

Overview

Various nations are implementing digital education initiatives to address learning gaps and connectivity issues. In Ghana, projects are utilizing offline models—including mobile devices, local servers, and solar power—to reach rural communities where internet access is limited. Similarly, Mendoza, Argentina, has integrated AI-driven mathematics tools to personalize learning in both urban and rural schools.

In Greece, the Ministry of Education has entered the third year of its Digital Tutoring program. Starting September 28, the initiative provides free live and asynchronous support across 45 subjects relevant to Panhellenic exams. The program serves students in high schools, vocational schools, and other secondary tracks, utilizing 81 educators to cover general education, orientation, and specialized subjects like Linear and Architectural Drawing.

Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki stated the initiative aims to “ensure equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their geographic location or family income.” To modernize the service, the Greek government is partnering with Microsoft to integrate an ‘AI Tutor’ for foreign languages. The Ministry also plans to expand live teaching to the first and second years of high school and is developing ‘EduAI,’ an artificial intelligence tool scheduled for 2027 to provide personalized feedback and identify learning gaps.
