The Turkish Cypriot Physiotherapists Association (KTFD) also issued a statement highlighting how osteoporosis can lead to mobility restrictions and increased reliance on others. Citing International Osteoporosis Foundation data, the association noted that one in three women and one in five men over age 50 may face osteoporosis-related fractures. Experts recommend prevention strategies such as adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, strength and balance exercises, and monitoring for symptoms like sudden height loss or new back pain.
