Goiânia municipal medicine procurement and supply

The Municipal Health Secretariat of Goiânia has secured full contracts for all items on the Municipal Essential Medicines List (Remume). Between 2025 and June 2026, the city invested R$ 63.9 million to procure 506 types of medications and materials, resulting in an inventory of over 15.5 million medication units and 8 million supplies. At the time of the initial report, stock coverage in health units was 90.5%, with the remaining shortfall attributed to pending deliveries from manufacturers and distributors.

By August 2026, the City Hall reported that it had applied 219 penalties to 114 companies for failing to meet contractual obligations regarding the supply of medicines and medical inputs. These administrative sanctions, issued by the Municipal Health Secretariat, included 207 fines, seven two-year bans on participating in public tenders, and four warnings. Health Secretary Luiz Pellizzer stated that these measures are intended to ensure the stability of the municipal health network's supply chain.
