Golf Saudi investment in women's professional golf
Overview
Golf Saudi has announced a strategic restructuring of its investment in professional women’s golf. Starting in 2027, the organization will transition from the five-event PIF Global Series to a single, co-sanctioned event titled ‘The Championship’.
Scheduled for July 19–25, 2027, the tournament will be co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET). The event will feature a $4 million prize fund, which doubles the $2 million purse offered in 2026.
Alongside the tournament, Golf Saudi has entered a multi-year partnership with the LET Order of Merit to provide season-long support for players on the European circuit. These initiatives are part of a broader domestic development strategy to increase participation among women and girls in Saudi Arabia, with the goal of growing the number of registered golfers in the Kingdom from approximately 4,500 to over 30,000 within five years.
