Google next-generation TV Streamer development

Overview

Reports indicate that Google is developing a next-generation Google TV Streamer featuring several hardware and functional upgrades. The new device is expected to have a more compact, narrower footprint while maintaining a pill-shaped design.

Key anticipated features include the integration of far-field microphones directly into the unit to allow for hands-free “Hey Google” voice commands and interaction with Google Gemini without a remote. The device may also include presence sensing technology to trigger ambient information or screensavers, such as Google Photos, when a person enters the room.

Internal specifications are rumored to include increased storage capacity and a faster processor to improve responsiveness and app capacity. While the accompanying remote is expected to remain largely unchanged, it may add two additional shortcut buttons. Google has not yet officially announced the specifications, price, or launch date for the new model.
