Greek diaspora cultural engagement in Australia and Greece

Overview

Cultural and educational initiatives have been established to strengthen ties between the Greek diaspora in Australia and Greece.

In Australia, the Monash Hellenic Students’ Society partnered with the Greek Community of Melbourne to launch a Greek language program for young adults. This initiative provides curriculum-aligned courses at Monash University’s Clayton campus. Concurrently, the ‘Greek Spirit’ exhibition in Sydney has been exploring themes of identity and Hellenic philosophy through various artistic mediums.

Building on these cultural connections, seventeen students from the Greek Community of Melbourne participated in an educational hospitality program hosted by the Attica Region. During their visit to Greece, the students toured historical sites such as Mycenae, Delphi, and Epidaurus to engage directly with their ancestral heritage.
