Greek government voucher subsidy programs

Greece has implemented several voucher-based subsidy programs in late 2026. On September 1, the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) launched a book voucher program with a budget of 3.75 million euros. This initiative issued 150,000 electronic codes, each worth 25 euros, to be redeemed at participating bookstores and publishing houses through December 31, 2026.

To stimulate domestic tourism, the government announced the ‘Thessaly Pass 2026’ and ‘Evros Pass 2026’ programs. The Thessaly Pass offers 7,500 cards worth 200 euros each, while the Evros Pass provides 1,400 cards worth 250 euros. Applications for these regional passes are scheduled for September 24 to September 28, 2026, with beneficiaries selected via lottery. Eligible applicants must be Greek tax residents based on 2025 returns. The National Technological Infrastructure and Research Network (EDYTE) will act as the implementing body. Notably, individuals already selected for the DYPA Social Tourism program for 2025-2026 or 2026-2027 are ineligible for these regional passes.

The DYPA Social Tourism program for 2026-2027 remains active until June 22, 2027, providing subsidies for accommodation and transportation. Beneficiaries can book up to six nights at providers listed in the DYPA Registry. While most stays require a small private contribution, certain regions offer more nights without accommodation costs. Specific rules govern travel for dependents and companions of persons with disabilities, and beneficiaries must submit formal declarations to both providers and DYPA if they depart earlier than planned.
