Greek regional healthcare service management

Greek regional health authorities are managing various logistical and staffing challenges across several island and coastal regions.

In the South Aegean, initiatives are underway to bolster healthcare in the Dodecanese islands. This includes a free medical mission in Symi providing specialized check-ups and the provision of nine apartments in Kos to address housing needs for doctors at the Kos General Hospital. Regional authorities have also implemented monthly financial allowances for doctors, nurses, and rescuers to support staffing.

In the 6th Health Region, authorities are addressing service disruptions and personnel disputes. In Messinia, an ambulance was temporarily removed from service following a traffic accident, necessitating the deployment of backup units from Pylos to cover the West Mani area. Meanwhile, in Kefalonia, the Federation of Hospital Doctors of Greece has criticized the administration over the sudden relocation of a rural doctor from the Sami Health Center to the Kefalonia General Hospital.
