Group life insurance trends in Poland
Overview
Reports from the Polish Insurance Chamber and research conducted by Unum in collaboration with the University of Warsaw indicate that group life insurance has become a leading non-wage benefit in Poland. By the end of the first quarter of 2026, approximately 26 million people held life insurance, with over 57% of those covered through group policies.
The research, titled ‘Ja w swoim wieku’, suggests that insurance needs are increasingly driven by life stages and personal experiences rather than age-based stereotypes. While older generations often prioritize family protection, younger generations, such as Generation Z, tend to focus on health security. Despite these varying priorities, a majority of respondents across all generations view holding a life insurance policy as a sign of maturity.
Experts recommend that employers implement more flexible group insurance programs to accommodate the diverse needs of a multi-generational workforce, noting that group insurance serves as a primary entry point for younger individuals to access financial support during illness or accidents.
