Grupo MAS retail expansion in Andalusia
Overview
Grupo MAS has initiated a strategic expansion in Andalusia, marked by the opening of the Cash Fresh Ayala store in Málaga. This move is part of a plan to transform 20 former Maskom locations into Supermercados MAS, Cash Fresh, and MAS&Go formats over the coming year. The company aims to double its presence in eastern Andalusia, targeting a long-term goal of 150 stores in the region and the development of a new regional logistics hub.
Following the acquisition of the Málaga-based Maskom chain, which added 51 supermarkets to its portfolio, the group projects annual sales of 900 million euros for 2026. This represents a 21% annual increase, though organic growth is estimated at 7% to 8% excluding the acquisition. CEO Jerónimo Martín stated the company intends to become the leading proximity supermarket in Andalusia and Extremadura, targeting a 12% market share in Andalusia and a long-term turnover of 2,400 million euros.
