Guanajuato electoral institute regulatory actions

The Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato (IEEG) has issued several rulings regarding political sanctions and party registrations.

In early August, the IEEG General Council addressed sanctioning procedures involving local deputy Maribel Aguilar González. The institute dismissed allegations against the deputy and the Morena party regarding the illegal use of public resources and premature campaigning. However, the council ruled that an infraction occurred when an official report of activities was disseminated outside the legally permitted timeframe, referring the matter to the State Congress.

By mid-August, the IEEG unanimously denied the registration of the Guía Nacional Indígena Originaria de Guanajuato (GNIOG) as a local political party. The decision was based on the organization’s failure to prove that its principles and statutes were properly approved during municipal assemblies in Santa Catarina and San Luis de la Paz. Furthermore, the institute launched an investigation into reports from Valle de Santiago alleging that GNIOG distributed food aid in exchange for membership.
