Overview

Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC EP) is executing electrical transmission infrastructure projects in the Guayas province with an investment of approximately USD 100 million. These works aim to strengthen the National Transmission System (SNT), meet growing residential and industrial demand, and improve energy capacity in areas including Guayaquil, Posorja, and General Villamil Playas.

Key initiatives include the USD 36.25 million Las Orquídeas transmission system in northern Guayaquil and the Salitral substation expansion, which is 64.59% complete with a projected investment of USD 29.35 million. Other completed or operational works include the Posorja substation expansion and the Las Esclusas substation, which doubled its transformation capacity. Funding is provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), fiscal resources, and CELEC's own funds.
