Guinness theft in Cheshire

Overview

Thieves stole approximately 800 barrels, or 70,000 pints, of Guinness stout from a logistics depot at the Whitehouse Industrial Estate in Runcorn, Cheshire. The incident occurred in two stages on the evening of Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, 2026. In the first instance, a driver reversed a lorry up to a trailer and drove off; a second trailer was stolen approximately 90 minutes later.

The stolen goods were valued at roughly £115,000, while the total loss, including two white GXO-branded trailers, is estimated at approximately £205,000. The beer was intended for local and national pubs.

Cheshire Police are investigating the heist and searching for two male drivers. One was described as a white man with a short, dark beard wearing a beanie, while the second was seen wearing a cap. Authorities are appealing for witnesses and asking motorists to review dashcam footage near the Mersey Gateway bridge and towards Rainhill and Watkinson Way.
