Overview
In August 2026, separate shooting incidents occurred in the state of Morelos, Mexico.
On August 7, a man approximately 30 years old was shot in the leg near the Medalla Milagrosa temple in Cuautla. The attack prompted a heavy response from municipal police, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army. The assailants fled, and state prosecution authorities opened an investigation.
On August 20, a second shooting took place in Cuernavaca near a commercial establishment. Two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire without provocation, striking a customer in the right hand. The victim underwent surgery and was reported to be out of danger. Forensic experts recovered three shell casings as part of the ongoing investigation.
