Gwanak-gu mobile administrative outreach

Overview

Gwanak-gu in Seoul has implemented the ‘Mobile Gwanak Office’ initiative to bring local administration directly to residents. Running from September 30 to November 3, the program visits all 21 neighborhoods in the district to gather community concerns for local policy incorporation.

During initial sessions in Sillim-dong, residents identified issues such as parking shortages, urban redevelopment, subway noise, bus stop installations, and road safety. District Head Park Jun-hee pledged to include parking expansions in mid-to-long-term plans and to provide redevelopment support via a dedicated rapid support team.

This outreach follows an eight-year history of mobile engagement that has collected over 1,055 suggestions from 11,000 residents, resulting in practical improvements like the ‘Gwanak Ganggamchan Bus’ and the ‘Gwanak 12’ village bus. The district also operates a ‘Cheok-cheok Hae-deurim Center’ to assist single-person households and vulnerable groups with housing inconveniences.
