Haikyu!! anime franchise expansion

Overview

The Haikyu!! anime franchise has announced two major projects scheduled for release in 2027.

Production I.G is developing a sequel film titled ‘Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant’, which follows the story after the Karasuno versus Nekoma match. The film will focus on the confrontation between Karasuno High and Kamomedai High, specifically highlighting the rivalry between Shoyo Hinata and Korai Hoshiumi. Susumu Mitsunaka is returning as the writer and director.

A second project, a special anime titled ‘Haikyu!! Bakemono Tachi no Iku Tokoro’ (Where Monsters Go), has also been announced. While previously suggested for television, it is now set for a cinematic release alongside the film. This special will focus on the match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School, featuring characters Kotaro Bokuto and Wakatsu Kiryu.

Additional details include a collaboration with the SV. LEAGUE ALL STAR GAMES 2026-27 in Hokkaido, scheduled for January 30, 2027.
