Symptoms include fever, fatigue, and painful sores in the mouth, throat, and pharynx, alongside rashes or fluid-filled blisters on the hands, feet, and sometimes the buttocks. Experts have noted that some children may experience nail shedding as a long-term effect. A significant clinical concern is dehydration, as mouth pain can prevent children from consuming enough fluids, occasionally requiring hospital monitoring or intravenous support.

To prevent transmission via respiratory secretions, blister fluids, or contaminated surfaces, specialists emphasize strict hand hygiene and the disinfection of shared toys and surfaces.
