Hanoi electric bus network expansion
Overview
Hanoi has initiated steps to expand its green public transportation network through the introduction of electric bus services.
Initially, the Hanoi People's Committee approved a new interprovincial electric bus route connecting Hanoi's Gia Lam Bus Station to the Hung Yen Bus Station. This plan included a proposal from the Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) to transition the route to a subsidized service model to improve regional connectivity.
Following these approvals, Hanoi deployed 28 electric buses on routes 22A and 22B. Operated by the Cau Buou Bus Enterprise under Transerco, these 60-seat vehicles replaced diesel-powered buses. The new fleet features low floors and accessibility equipment for passengers with disabilities. This deployment supports Transerco’s roadmap to increase its proportion of green vehicles to over 51% by the end of 2026.
