Harassment in Adapazarı neighborhood

Overview

For approximately six months, residents of the Evren neighborhood in the Adapazarı district of Sakarya have faced ongoing harassment from an unidentified individual. The suspect has reportedly targeted homes by throwing large paving stones, pointing laser lights at citizens, and stalking people in their gardens.

In response to the disturbances, which have caused significant sleep deprivation and fear, community members have organized nightly vigils and patrols. Residents have used flashlights, vehicles, and security cameras to monitor streets, gardens, and cornfields. However, the suspect has allegedly disabled some security devices with stones.

Recent escalations included a chase where a resident, Mahmut Yıldız, was reportedly struck in the leg by a stone. Witnesses have described the suspect as a thin, tall, and hunched individual often dressed in black. While residents report that police have responded to the area, the individual has not yet been apprehended.
