Healthcare infrastructure modernization in Panama and बोलीव
Overview
Health authorities in Panama and Bolivia are undertaking initiatives to modernize medical infrastructure and improve service delivery.
In Panama, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) launched a training tour to strengthen the National Medical Device Surveillance Program. This effort involves multidisciplinary personnel from Minsa, the Social Security Fund, and private hospitals across several regions to improve the management of adverse events and ensure regulatory compliance.
In Bolivia, efforts have focused on equipment distribution and technological integration. In Tarija, the state telecommunications company ENTEL provided high-end mobile devices to the Autonomous Medical Emergency Service (SEMAT) to strengthen communication for emergency responses, such as traffic accidents. In the Pando region, the Ministry of Health and Sports, in coordination with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), delivered nine telehealth kits to municipalities in the Amazon region. These kits, containing tablets, vital signs monitors, portable electrocardiographs, and oximeters, allow medical personnel to perform real-time evaluations and transmit clinical data from hard-to-reach indigenous communities.
Additionally, the Bolivian Ministry of Health and Sports, alongside PAHO, is conducting workshops to strengthen the national health system’s response to violence against women, adolescents, and children through the introduction of the ‘Kit ANIMA – AA’ tool.
