The Hellenic Police have focused on infrastructure readiness and the demonstration of advanced tactical and educational technology.

At the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, the force presented its ‘Modern Police. Innovating for Safety’ theme. The exhibit utilized interactive technology, including virtual reality (VR) scenarios, AI agents, and drones. To promote road safety, the police provided simulation tools such as glasses that mimic the effects of intoxication, fatigue, or drug use, alongside a collision simulator. Visitors also engaged in activities to learn how to identify counterfeit documents and banknotes using specialized lenses and microscopes.

This technological showcase followed high-risk robbery simulations involving elite units from the European ATLAS Network—including Greece’s EKAM, Italy’s G.I.S., and Austria’s EKO Cobra—which demonstrated the use of drones and robotic dogs for tactical breaches.

During the fair, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Police Chief Dimitris Mallios inaugurated a new Information Center. Minister Chrysochoidis emphasized the modernization of the force, noting priorities such as the establishment of a Social Policing Directorate to protect victims of domestic and juvenile violence, addressing fan violence, and improving traffic policing. He also highlighted the success of the Organized Crime Directorate, which has dismantled over 2,000 criminal groups in under two years through stricter legislative penalties.
