Heritage Sustainability Prize 2026 nominations

Overview

The 2026 Heritage Sustainability Prize (Erfgoed Duurzaamheidsprijs) has announced its six nominees. For the first time, the jury has split the awards into two categories: ‘Project’ and ‘Process’.

The ‘Project’ category includes nominees such as Dudok aan het Diep in Groningen, Nieuwsteeg 2 in Leiden, De Rode Toren in Utrecht, and the former Poppodium Tivoli in Utrecht. The ‘Process’ category features the Duurzame Monumentenproject in Zeist and ‘Een Warme Jas’.

Organized by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, the National Restoration Fund, and the Nederland Monumentenland Foundation, the prize aims to show that heritage values can coexist with modern insulation and installation requirements. Public voting is open via Monumenten.nl from August 18 until September 15, 2026.
