HIFK ice hockey club roster and coaching changes

Overview

Helsinki-based ice hockey club HIFK has undertaken several personnel changes to address roster needs and performance issues. The club initially announced the acquisition of forward Sampo Ranta, who joined from the Swedish club Örebro HK to provide leadership and physicality, and goaltender Olof Glifford, who arrived on a one-month loan from HV71 to cover for an injured Tim Juelin.

Following these player signings, the club appointed Tommi Miettinen as head coach for the remainder of the season. Miettinen replaces Olli Jokinen, who was dismissed due to an unsuccessful tenure. The coaching change follows a period of struggle for the squad, which had earned only 15 points from 14 matches and sat in 15th place below the relegation line.
