High-end laser projector market expansions

Overview

Hisense has expanded its laser projector lineup with the introduction of the PX4 Pro TriChroma Laser Cinema. Launched in Qingdao, China, the projector features 3,500 ANSI lumens, 118% BT.2020 color coverage, and gaming capabilities including a 2K 240 Hz refresh rate and 1ms latency. It is the first TriChroma Laser Cinema to be FreeSync Premium certified, and future updates to the VIDAA operating system are expected to add Xbox Cloud Gaming support.

In Malaysia, Hisense introduced a three-model laser family consisting of the XR10, PX4PRO, and L9Q. The XR10 is designed for large venues with up to 300-inch screens, 6,000 ANSI lumens, and a 6,000:1 contrast ratio. The PX4PRO is intended for living rooms, providing 3,500 ANSI lumens and IMAX Enhanced/Dolby Vision certification, while the ultra-short-throw L9Q supports 80-200-inch images with 5,000 ANSI lumens and Dolby Vision Atmos. The XR10 and PX4PRO are priced at RM23,999, and the L9Q retails for RM29,999.

Additional high-end competition includes the BenQ W5850, a 4K DLP laser projector designed for smaller spaces. It features a medium short-throw lens capable of projecting a 120-inch screen from less than nine feet away, with a maximum size of 200 inches. The BenQ model offers 2,600 lumens of peak output, DCI-P3 color accuracy, and motorized lens controls for zoom, focus, and shift.

Further expansion includes the XR10, which utilizes an RGB laser projection system and an integrated physical iris to enhance contrast. This model is positioned at a premium price point of approximately $5,999 to $6,999.
