High-speed police pursuit in Saratoga County
Overview
On October 12, 2026, a high-speed police pursuit in Clifton Park, New York, ended with a Chevrolet Corvette engulfed in flames. New York State Police reported that the driver refused to stop on Route 9, reaching speeds of up to 154 mph. Despite the deployment of tire-deflation devices, the vehicle continued for approximately thirty to forty minutes before being found unoccupied and on fire near Southbury Road and Montgomery Way.
Following an investigation, authorities identified the driver as 28-year-old Logan J. Powers of Waterford. Although Powers initially provided a written statement claiming the vehicle had been stolen, police determined he was the driver during the pursuit. He was arrested on October 14.
