High-value Angus bull livestock sales

Overview

High-value Angus bull auctions have been recorded in both Australia and Argentina.

In Victoria, Australia, the Knowla Angus bull Knowla VIP V264 sold for $140,000 at an auction in Gloucester. The bull was noted for its eye-muscle area and docility metrics. This followed other livestock sales in Queensland, including a Brangus bull that sold for $15,000.

In Argentina, an Angus bull named ‘Álvaro’ set a new sector record during an auction in Tres Arroyos. A 50% ownership stake in the bull was sold for 300 million pesos, approximately US$200,000. The bull, owned by Cabaña Santa Rosa, was acquired by a consortium from La Pampa due to its championship pedigree. The consortium will have exclusive rights to semen extraction through the end of the year, with wider commercial availability expected in 2027.
