Hokuriku heavy rain recovery donations
Overview
Following heavy rains that struck the Hokuriku region in August, various public figures have made financial contributions to support local recovery efforts.
In mid-September, professional golfer Miyu Yamashita announced a 10 million yen donation to be distributed through the Japanese Red Cross Society and the Ishikawa Prefecture Community Chest. Yamashita, who has roots in Toyama and Ishikawa, stated, “I hope that a peaceful daily life will return as soon as possible, and I sincerely hope for the recovery and reconstruction of Ishikawa Prefecture.”
Later in the month, professional sumo wrestler Asanoyama donated 1 million yen to Himi City in Toyama Prefecture. Asanoyama presented the funds to Mayor Masahiro Kikuchi to assist with recovery efforts in his mother’s hometown.
